As the Dust Settles

No rest for the weary they say. The month of August was exciting for Gray Jenkins. As Josh moved in and we began the process of merging the practices, we did not slow down. In fact, we were able to push and expand our work. And, of course, August is the month of Birmingham’s Innovation week!

What We have Been Up To

Of course, we have been working hard to protect and serve our clients. But, our work to help the small business community in Birmingham is stronger than ever. Some of our work this month included:

Josh presented his quarterly presentation for SCORE Birmingham for the first time as Managing Partner for Gray Jenkins. Josh’s next presentation of “Legal Strategies for New and Small Businesses” with SCORE will be October 27 at the Birmingham Public Library.

Josh and Johnny attended REV Birmingham’s office hours and spent some time speaking with CO.STARTERS graduates about the legal issues facing their small businesses.

Josh presented BIZ1.0 for REV Birmingham and spoke with the attendees about what it means to start a business and the items to consider before moving forward.

During Innovation Week, Josh was invited to present at for Birmingham Creative Roundtable: “Keeping Fiscally and Legally Fit!” with Darlene Wilson of RAM Tax Company. After the presentation, Johnny and Josh were able to speak with a number of creative business owners about the legal issues facing their creative business. We discussed everything from copyright and intellectual property to business licenses and entity selection.

Josh also continued his tradition of speaking to the Senior Capstone Seminar for Auburn University’s Health Services Administration Students regarding the legal issues surrounding starting a healthcare facility.

Helping Out

We have also had the privilege of working with a student Startup from Birmingham-Southern College on a Pro Bono basis.

We are working to help the Bitter Student make sure they are doing everything they should and protecting their business legally and helping these students experience, first-hand, what it is like to run a business and make sure to protect their business as it grows.

Coming Up

Stay tuned for more from our attorneys and more ways to see presentations and learn more about how to protect your business as it grows. Coming up, you can find us in the following places:
